The Chhattisgarh Police has filed an FIR against former Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel and 16 others in connection with the Mahadev Betting App case. Baghel responded to the allegations by holding a press conference to defend himself, while Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Sharma expressed strong reactions to the developments.
According to the allegations, the former state government and administration aided the illegal operations of the Mahadev App by providing protection money. Baghel, addressing the media on Sunday, asserted that his name does not appear anywhere in the FIR copy, attributing the accusations to political motives.
The Mahadev Betting App case uncovered a nexus between individuals, including Saurabh Chandrakar and Ravi Uppal, who operated the app while being based in Gulf countries. Both individuals are promoters of the Mahadev Betting App, which was involved in fraudulent activities amounting to over 15,000 crore rupees.
During the investigation, it was revealed that the Indian government had issued lookout circulars against Uppal and Chandrakar twice, but they were not apprehended. Instead, Shubham Soni entered the scene to introduce a twist to the narrative as the elections approached.
Baghel emphasized that no promoter of the app is mentioned in the FIR copy. He reiterated, "If you check the copy, my name is nowhere to be found. My name has been maliciously dragged into the political sphere."
Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Sharma, speaking at a social event in Bhilai, asserted, "Whoever commits a crime will face an FIR. In the eyes of the law, everyone is equal."
The Mahadev Betting App case has stirred controversy and raised questions about the involvement of political figures in illegal activities. As the investigation unfolds, all eyes remain on the unfolding developments in this high-profile case.
