In a significant development regarding a land compensation case, the local Additional District Judge (Special Court) in Rajnandgaon has issued an order to seize the car of the collector as part of the process to recover the amount owed to the applicant. The court has directed the collection of the amount received from the auction of the seized vehicle to compensate the affected party.
According to information received, advocate Arjundas Vaishnav filed a case on February 26, 2012, regarding the demolition of four rooms of Vaidhehi Devi's private residence during road construction. Despite waiting for compensation for three years after the demolition in 2012, when the appropriate compensation was not provided, an appeal was filed in court in 2015. The affected party had demanded compensation amounting to approximately Rs. 27,16,000.
Despite the property being registered in the name of Vaidhehi Devi, the administration demolished the house in the name of road widening. On June 22, 2023, the court issued an order to provide compensation, but the administration took no steps to fulfill the court's directive. The advocate provided the numbers of the collector of Rajnandgaon, as well as the ADM and revenue officer's vehicles, to the court. Consequently, the court ordered the seizure of the collector's car to recover the owed compensation amount.
