In a significant move aimed at empowering women, the Delhi government has unveiled the Mukhyamantri Mahila Samman Yojana under its budget for the fiscal year 2024-25. As per the scheme, all women aged 18 and above will receive a monthly financial assistance of Rs 1,000. The announcement was made by Delhi Finance Minister Atishi during the presentation of the budget, which amounts to Rs 76,000 crore.

Despite a slight reduction in budget allocation compared to the previous year, with a decrease of Rs 2,000 crore, the Delhi government remains committed to prioritizing key sectors. Notably, education has received significant attention, with an allocation of Rs 16,396 crore for the fiscal year 2024-25, constituting approximately 21% of the total budget outlay.

Addressing the assembly, Minister Atishi highlighted the remarkable economic growth of Delhi over the past decade. She emphasized that the Gross State Domestic Product (GSDP) has surged from Rs 4.95 lakh crores in 2014 to Rs 11.08 lakh crores, underscoring the city's robust economic trajectory.

Meanwhile, amidst ongoing legal proceedings, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has expressed his willingness to cooperate with the Enforcement Directorate (ED) regarding the excise policy case. Kejriwal has agreed to appear before the agency via video-conferencing after March 12, responding to the latest summons. Previously, Kejriwal had contested the legality of the summonses, urging the ED to await court decisions on the matter.
