In a significant move aimed at bolstering security measures, the Chhattisgarh government has announced the formation of a State Investigation Agency (SIA) to spearhead the investigation and prosecution of cases related to terrorism, Naxalism, and leftist extremism within the state. The decision, taken during a cabinet meeting held on Wednesday, March 6, 2024, underscores the state's commitment to swiftly and effectively address security challenges. The SIA will serve as the primary agency for coordinating with the National Investigation Agency (NIA) and ensuring seamless cooperation in combating these threats. The State Investigation Agency will act as the nodal agency of the state for coordination with the National Investigation Agency, further strengthening the state's ability to combat Naxal-related crimes.

To facilitate its operations, the government has sanctioned the creation of 74 new posts, including that of a Superintendent of Police, within the agency. This dedicated team of professionals will work tirelessly to investigate and prosecute cases of terrorism, Naxalism, and leftist extremism, thereby enhancing the state's security apparatus and safeguarding the interests of its citizens.

In addition to bolstering security measures, the Chhattisgarh Cabinet also unveiled key initiatives aimed at enhancing the welfare of its citizens. Under the Krishak Unnati Yojana, farmers will now receive a grant of ₹19,257 per acre, based on the quantity of paddy procured during the Kharif year 2023. This move is poised to provide crucial support to the agricultural community and promote agricultural prosperity within the state.

Furthermore, the Cabinet approved the restoration of the pension scheme for individuals detained under the Maintenance of Internal Security Act (MISA) during the Emergency period from 1975 to 1977. The decision to reinstate the pension scheme reflects the government's commitment to acknowledging and supporting individuals who endured hardships during a tumultuous period in the nation's history. The pension amounts will vary based on the duration of detention, with detainees held for less than one month receiving ₹8,000 per month, those detained for one to five months receiving ₹15,000 per month, and individuals detained for five months or more receiving ₹25,000 per month.

In another noteworthy development, the Chhattisgarh Cabinet announced the establishment of a Department of Good Governance and Convergence. This department will play a pivotal role in facilitating the effective implementation of public welfare policies, optimizing resource utilization, and expediting the resolution of public grievances. By fostering a culture of transparency, accountability, and efficiency, the Department of Good Governance and Convergence aims to enhance governance standards and deliver tangible benefits to the citizens of Chhattisgarh.
