In a recent development, former Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel has raised eyebrows by likening some members within the Congress party to sleeper cells. Speaking at a party event in Rajnandgaon, Baghel remarked that if all events are to be considered, he had indeed given an opportunity, and there is no question of propaganda. This implies that some individuals within the party are not working in the interest of the party but are engaged in negative propaganda.
Election Fever Grips Baghel
Bhupesh Baghel has been actively holding rallies and meeting the public in preparation for the Lok Sabha elections. However, amidst these activities, there have been demands from some Congress leaders to change the candidate for the Rajnandgaon Lok Sabha seat and withdraw Baghel's ticket.
Regarding this matter, Baghel stated, "All events, if considered, I indeed gave an opportunity. There is no question of propaganda in this. The Congress party has its own system, under which decisions on who to assign work and who not to, are made. This process involves the signatures of the President and the Treasurer, along with an agreement with the assigned individual. Everything has been done according to the procedure, and now allegations of coercion are being made."
Baghel further added, "Some people are working within the Congress as sleeper cells. They are engaging in activities that tarnish the Congress's reputation, rather than strengthening it. If there is any problem, proper complaints should have been filed, leading to the formation of a committee for investigation."
High Political Drama Ahead of Lok Sabha Elections
With the Lok Sabha elections on the horizon, political tension is running high. There has been a visible discord among Congress members in recent days. At a recent event in Khuteri, Congress leader Surendra Das vehemently criticized Bhupesh Baghel, accusing him of negligence, bias, and favoritism. Subsequently, a letter was written by another Congress leader demanding the withdrawal of Baghel's ticket. This has sparked a series of statements and counterstatements within the party, indicating a turbulent phase in the run-up to the elections.
